Mbappé nets first Real Madrid hat trick in Valladolid win
Kylian Mbappé scored his first hat-trick for Real Madrid, leading them to a 3-0 victory over Real Valladolid and extending their lead at the top of La Liga. The French forward’s clinical finishing proved decisive as Real Madrid capitalized on Atlético Madrid’s draw with Villarreal to move four points clear at the top of the table.
Mbappé opened the scoring in the 30th minute with a powerful strike after a neat one-two with Jude Bellingham. He then doubled Real Madrid’s lead in the second half, finishing off a swift counter-attack with a composed finish. In stoppage time, Mbappé completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot after Bellingham was fouled in the box.
This impressive performance marked Mbappé’s second consecutive multi-goal game, following his brace against Las Palmas last weekend. He now sits just one goal behind Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski in the La Liga scoring charts, having found his rhythm after a slow start to his Real Madrid career.
Despite missing Vinícius Júnior due to suspension, Real Madrid controlled the game against Valladolid, enjoying the majority of possession and limiting the home side’s attacking opportunities.5 While their performance may not have been their most inspired, Mbappé’s clinical finishing proved to be the difference.
Real Madrid’s victory extends their lead at the top of La Liga to four points over Atlético Madrid, who drew 1-1 with Villarreal.6 Barcelona, who face Valencia on Sunday, could close the gap to seven points with a win, but Real Madrid remain firmly in control of the title race.
