Thomas Partey and Mohammed Kudus played key roles as Ghana secured a 3-0 victory over Madagascar, significantly boosting their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification hopes. The win, coupled with Mali’s goalless draw against the Central African Republic, extends Ghana’s lead in Group I to five points over Madagascar and six over Mali, with four rounds of matches remaining.

Four-time African champions Ghana, who surprisingly failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, produced a dominant performance. Partey scored twice (both headers), while Kudus added another goal, with all three goals assisted by Jordan Ayew.

The Black Stars, who surprisingly failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, produced a dominant performance. Partey, the Arsenal midfielder, opened the scoring with a header, and added a second header later. West Ham’s Kudus netted with Jordan Ayew setting up all three goals.

The results put Ghana in a strong position to secure the automatic qualification spot awarded to the group winners. The four-time African champions are aiming to return to the World Cup stage after missing out on the 2022 tournament.
